rpi zero w can run on entirely free software?

My understanding has been that all rpi computers, except the rpi pico and rpi pico 2, require running non free software in order to work. If the rpi pico 2 w will work if you do not install the non free wifi software I do not know. Now one person said the rpi zero requires no piece of non free software to work. Is that correct.
