Cut/Copy/Paste disabled out in Caja

The Cut/Copy/Paste is sometimes disabled (greyed out) in Caja.
Right clicking on the source file or folder, I'm able to copy. When I try to paste the file/folders the menu is greyed out.
The only fix I've found is to close/reopen all Caja windows. The Problem is intermittent but frustrating when it does happen.
I have run into this issue many times since I started using Trisquel years ago, but I have yet to figure out how to reliably reproduce the issue or hear of anyone else running into the issue.
ctrl + Q can easily close all Caja windows and that does workaround the issue, but it is annoying to have to do that.
Also, drag and drop seems to still work in this state, and this will copy if it's going between drives or move if it's not, so sometimes this can be used before closing and re-opening Caja.
Do you use middle-click to open folders in new tabs? I wonder if that has anything to do with it.
This 2018 bug report is still open:

Another enduring Caja mystery. Maybe you could open a new report linking to the old one and ask for guidance on how to get a proper debug log.

Indeed it seems that it concerns the contextual menu specifically. Have you also tried Ctrl+C/Ctrl+V as a workaround?
IIRC, ctrl+C/ctrl+V does not work when the context menu is broken like this.
edit: I don't really want to interact with the GitHub issues due to nonfree JavaScript, but I did find a debugging guide here: https://wiki.mate-desktop.org/contributing/software-development/debugging-with-eclipse/
