No Apparent Power Indicator on Bottom Panel in I18N Gnome Edition for 21-October

Hi,
I just booted this edition's live environment and noticed, using the
Orca screen reader, that the battery level indicator is never spoken; it
is either skipped, invisible to Orca, or is missing from the bottom
panel. I'm doing this on an Asus 1015 PE, on which Trisquel 5.0, 5.5,
and many other GNU/Linux systems run as they should. Is there some
additional configuration I can do, after install, perhaps, to get this
indicator to show?
Thanks,
Dave Hunt
I have installed the said version in a virtual machine (both, with and without accessibility mode enabled) and I don't have a battery level indicator either. (I have one in 5.5.) Even if I hold down the Meta key and right click the panel, I don't get a menu where I thought I might be able to select adding the indicator. There is an indicator in the top right corner of the login screen, though. How did you get Orca to speak out the battery level in 5.5, Dave? I couldn't get it to do that albeit the indicator being visible. Did you install any additional accessibility packages?
Hi,
I can put focus on the battery indicator with tab, shift+tab, or the
arrow keys, then use 'ctrl+f1" to get Orca to speak the value. This
works on the network indicator, as well. No additional accessibility
packages needed. As we speak, I'm using Debian Wheezy, with display in
GNOME Fallback, and find that there is a battery indicator, accessible
to Orca.
Cheers,

Update: The respective setting should be in the System Settings --> Power --> Show battery status in the menu bar. However, it discards whatever setting I make there as soon as I quit the window.
